Screams of excitement could be heard throughout Hillwood Commons when the Spring Fling Concert 2010 was officially announced March 18.
Many students were thrilled to hear that Grammy-nominee and R&B heartthrob Trey Songz will be performing at this year's show.
"Oh my God! Is he really coming to Post?" Elena Dimarco, a junior majoring in journalism, said. "That's unbelievable. I love Trey Songz.
"Over the years, the annual Spring Fling concert has progressed; Starting with Gym Class Heroes in the spring of 2007, to Estelle, J. Holiday, Day 26 and now, Songz himself.
Unlike previous years, this year's concert will be held at the Tilles Center instead of the Pratt Recreation Center.
"I have enjoyed previous concerts but the fact that it's in the Tilles is even better," Malvina Acevedo, a junior majoring in childhood education, said. "The location and environment in Tilles is better."
Tickets go on sale for students, faculty and staff on March 26 at 1 p.m. at the Tilles Center box office for the price of $11.50. One ticket is allowed per student ID. Orchestra seating will be reserved for C.W. Post students only until April 9.
"I know that this concert will sell out in record time," Tiffany Torres, vice-president of the Association for Campus Programming, said. "The only thing that surprised me was when I heard that people were camping outside of Tilles so they could get great seats."
Because the event will take place in the Tilles Center, there is no student-guest policy. This will allow students to bring as many guests as they want, and it will open the campus to the surrounding community.
Tickets for non-Post students are $26.50 and will be available March 26th through Ticketmaster.com and TillesCenter.org.
"The attendance has gone up over the years which is due to a solid commitment from the students. We finally got someone everyone is legitimately excited about and hopefully we get a good turn out," Fernando Mendoza, assistant director of Student Life and Leadership Development, said.
